Tabuk

Tabuk City, the seat of the Emirate of Tabuk Region and the largest city in northwestern Saudi Arabia, is surrounded by some of the most important monuments in the Arabian Peninsula. Tabuk was home to many nations before Islam, such as the extinct Arabs such as Thamud, Madyan and the Nabataeans. It contains the tombs of the people of the Prophet Shuaib, peace be upon him (the People of the Wood). Historians mention that Tabuk is home to clans of the Arab tribe of Judham. The Tabuk region is the northern gateway to the Arabian Peninsula, and a vital route for trade, pilgrims and Umrah performers from outside the Arabian Peninsula. It is one of the important agricultural areas in the Kingdom. The city of Tabuk is located specifically 700 kilometers north of Medina, and 1,350 kilometers from the Riyadh region. It is also located on a low plain and its height above sea level is between 600-800 meters.

Al-Tawbah Mosque, or the ancient mosque, or what is known to the people of Tabuk as the Prophet's Mosque. The first construction of the mosque was during the reign of the Umayyad Caliph Omar bin Abdul Aziz, where it was built of mud, palm fronds for the roof, and engraved stones. Then the mosque was rebuilt during the Ottoman era in 1062 AH corresponding to 1651 AD, and it was rebuilt again during the Saudi era, and he ordered its renovation in the style of the Prophet's Mosque in 1393 AH.
